I think it was Fritz a while back who was lamenting how the visual media (movies, etc.) keep expanding on quality and clarity while audio media (music, etc.) keeps squeezing the life out of the quality by sampling and smashing things down --- There’s also a reason that so much of what has been sliced, diced and regurgitated from digital instruments is from real instruments, like a multiple-ton pipe organ that can’t slip into your “hip” pocket.
