Mellotronists

I listened to Patrick's bits on the remastered YESSHOWS disc last 
night,the first I'd heard it in ages.Why did his tron sound SO bad??I 
have a video of him with the band that sounds terrible as well.Very 
bassy sounding,no balls,and a peculiar eq "honkiness".It certainly 
didn't sound that way on REFUGEE,RELAYER,or when he joined the 
Moodies.I recall he had made his own tapes so perhaps that's part of 
it.It also sounded so dry...no reverb.(unlike the studio tracks)
