Do you not like Chamberlins? I have never seen or
played one and have only heard them on Richard
Thompson and Harry Nilsson CDs. The sound certainly is
different but not in a way I can easily explain, I
really like it but if offered a choice between a
chamberlin and a tron would take the tron, unless of
course it was the rivera/riviera in which case I would
play it continuously for several months and then sell
it to buy an M5000!

Greetings Gang, Been reading the latest posts, incl. the critique
of "Epsilon" (Ypsilon ) and the above. Incl. the offensive
comments from FS-VA. Go easy on the caffeine, will 'ya Frank ?

Anyway, I have the orig. LP version of Ypsilon from the 70's.
As Ken Leonard indicated, it's mostly Tron on that version.
Not exactly a top-seller, but more an experiment with that instrument.
Much like some of the Berlin-School copycat stuff heard on Starstreams.
.....it is what is is (was).....

I first heard/saw a Chamberlin (M1) at Pierre Veilleux's Montreal
apartment in 1997. WOW ! was my first inpression . Later again in
2000 at Toronto, when Chris Dale brought his M1 to the Workshop.

....Finally, in 2006 , Ken/I saw/heard the Music Master 600 in Boston.
Chamberlins' sound quality is quite nice. Original recordings plus the
high-qual. heads were a great combo. However the 600's pkg'g. left much
to be desired. The M1 was designed as well as it could be for the time.
The Riviera will hopefully make a wonderful addition to someone's
collection/studio ....Add some more zeroes to that $1800.00 figure , FS-VA.

Speaking of caffeine, it's 0430 here and my day's just beginning. -- JK
