another winter storm knocks out power for thousands in MO....you'd think that power companies would wise up and get rid of our feeble, exposed, and ancient above ground power lines on wooden poles/metal towers. I realize the initial expenses involved but you'd think the public would be willing to cough up the extra bucks on the monthly bill to pay for the transfer to prevent future blackouts during freezing cold, sometimes which lasts for days while the repair guys struggle to get the ice and branches cleared and wires back up. They could put the whole thing right on the ground level in pipes embedded in raised earthen "mounds" if they didn't want to bury everything below ground level. It would be easily accessible/repairable in case of an accidental break from construction or accident. Plus we'd get the bonus of a scenic view of the landscape free of wooden poles and mega power towers and wire clutter. Imagine someone with a MK2 in a cold climate with the power off for days...there it sits....unplayable. (makes me wish for that foot pump tron)
