Interesting observations by Robert L.

Not wanting to sound argumentative but we have recently overhauled this very
machine and to be honest, it felt and sounded like a pig. It had all the
hallmarks of a prototype where a few more production models would have cured
the very evident snags.

The problems were not caused by Robert's tapes. The keyboard was the
heaviest action we have ever experienced ever. The machine was over adjusted
to make the tapes drive, the drive being compromised by a capstan proven to
be running several thou. out on a dial test indicator. It had a key frame
that was easily deflected downwards due to the one piece construction. This
meant an adjustment made at one end to pads and rollers was mitigated by the
bowing of the frame if additional keys were pressed at the other end. We
ended up putting strenghtening brackets to stop this problem.
