Hi there,

Can anyone help me with the tyre sizes that should be placed on the  
13inch wheels of a steel chassis 3 litre Marocs? I have a mix of 
sizes on the car at the moment 185, 175 and 165!?, I beleive that the 
175 are the correct ones (175 70R? 13's?), has anyone fitted (and 
would you recommend a size) the 185's. Please if you do know which 
ones give me the full size (is 70 profile the greatest or is it 75?). 
Also any suggestions on makes of tyres would be helpful!

Sorry for this garbled message but I am in the process of rebuilding 
the car and do not know what size it should have had? I also only 
have 1 original wheel and 4 Wolfrace slot type wheels, I would 
ideally love to get my mits on some originals!

Hey Ashley,

The original tyre sizes for the coupe were 175HR13 Avon radials, and the 3
litre coupes had mainly Cosmic rims, though some had Minilites. I've had
Michelin 185HR70/13 tyres on my car for 25 years but they have a slightly
smaller rolling diameter so the speedo over-reads a little. They have
performed very well for me but I'm in the market for new ones. I've decided
to switch to 14" rims because I'd like a fatter, lower profile tyre and
believe the 195HR60/14 is pretty close. Sizes vary somewhat depending on
manufacturer and I have yet to make a final choice. Maybe other owner can
provide further input.

I think the correct profile was actually 80%. I tried a couple of 
years ago to buy tyres this size and couldn't get any. You may 
find 'classic tyre' specialists still do the correct type (The 
original tyres were Avons). I settled on 185/70 x 13s (Goodyears in 
my case) which look great (ie, in keeping) and greatly improved the 
grip and feel of the car.

Try an ad in the CMI or MOC magazine. I bet a lot of people have 
wheels knocking around (I wouldn't swap my standard wheels for 
anything though - Jem once said to me how good it was to see a car on 
it's original wheels! :^))

Hey Ashley and gang,
             I have got 8" wide rims on mine 3.25" backspace on the 
back and 4.25 backspace on the front they fit fine with a 205/60/13 
tire .

Hi all,

Just some specs on tire diameters:

175SR13 - 23.94  Tread width - 5.0
185/70sr13 - 23.74 Tread width - 5.7
195/70sr13 - 24.10 Tread width - 6.1
205/60hr13 - 22.70 Tread width - 6.9

195/70hr14 - 23.20 Tread width - 6.5

These are in inches.  As you can see, a lot of difference.  I have 
the 3 litre V6 steel chassis and recently put on 195/70HR13 tires.  I 
liked the size being closer to original.  I have the original wheels 
also.  Mark Petrinovich (3 litre Volvo) also put on the same tires I 
have.  I'm quite happy with mine.  I'll put a pic of mine with the 
tires in the "photo" section tomorrow.
