Junk mailers.... Please read!

Junk mailers.... Please read!

2002-04-11 by Jeff Caraway

I agree!!! This is darned annoying!
I have removed the offending subscriber as I did with the last nut.
I am considering changing the list to a "closed" list which would mean
that future subscribers would have to talk to me first.
The up-side of this is that I could probably weed out some of the
junk-mailers. Some could lie, so I couldn't get them all.
The down-side is that some people would be less likely to subscribe if
there was that kind of effort involved. Not to mention it would put more
work on me.

Please let me know what everyone thinks. Your opinion counts because
this list is for all of you!

First Yahoo! bombard members with junk mail in their own accounts and
NOW we get it in the Groups too!!!

Where's the Yahoo! complaints section?

Great idea Jeff. Go for it. I shouldn't think there'd be very many people to
vet.

Jeff . . .
2 instances of nuts/junk in the history of the list. I think I can live with it. Keep the open list for now, as we seem to be growing slowly as more "Maniacs" find out about us. If the junk mail instances increase, then let's reconsider.

Hi Jeff,
My 2 cents... Leave the list open. While it is VERY annoying to get the junk mail I would hate to see anything done that would make it harder to join the list as we want as many MARCOS owners and admirers as possible. And as you pointed out, the NUTS could lie and get in anyway. So why create a system that makes it harder for everyone when it isn't "fool proof" and the problem we would be trying to solve is small.

Folks,

I say leave it open. Two instances out of 800+ messages is really
nothing. Can you believe 60 members and 800+ messages?!! Who
would've thunk it?

Jeff,
I also vote with the "lets keep the list open at least for the time being" crowd. So far with only the rare exception this list has been an extraordinary place to exchange information - technical and otherwise.

Well, as the first poster on the subject, I agree we should keep the
group open and just remove people who post this kind of junk ASAP
(thanks to the kind services of the moderator here. I guess if it
ever got too bad it'd be down to them to decide on the appropriate
action - leave the spammers or go private - and that's fine by me).
I, fwiw, sent the guys details onto Yahoo, although I'm doubtful
it'll elicit much response.

Finally, and on another topic, great site, Dave, on the racing XP.
I'll post a link and wondered if I could use one of the shots (with
appropriate link) on the models page of my site as your scanned
originals are much better than my shoddy ones from Torque?

Cheers,

Mark
