Master Cylinders

2002-04-02 by dbarton62

Hello Group,
The clutch master cylinder on my car has seized ......I have
a spare brake master cylinder........I have been told that increasing
the bore size of a master cylinder will reduce the "mechanical
advantage" and so make the pedal effort higher ........My question to
everybody is......... how much pedal effort is required in stock form?
Of course each engine /trans combo will have different results but I
can draw my own conclusions from the feedback.....any comments would
be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I found out that the power windows came from a Vauxhall
Viscount.......read...........(hens teeth)

Hello Dave
RE master cylinder.
Working on displacement, if you fit a larger diameter cylinder then the peddle travel should be less.
As you are fitting the cylinder to a clutch, this unlike a brake has minimal resistance, so I would say that you will not notice any difference at your foot.
