Body to chassis fit

Fitting body to chassis as a trial last week. Chassis has been repaired, new tubes added where needed. transverse tubes left in place as no damage. Seat pans at one time where refiberglassed (poorly done). Removing body from chassis was difficult as rear of seat pans had been fiberglassed to transverse chassis tubes (cut fiberglass to remove body). Refit body last week after repairing seat pans and chassis. Rear of seat pans contacted rear chassis tubes, tight fit. Stopped and removed body again, more fiberglass work, moved rear of seat pans forward. Question; What is the clearance between the back of seat pans and the transverse chassis tubes? Should the body slide in the chassis with no hassles or body contact?
On what chassis tubes, "Chassis sponge" adhere too? How thick is the chassis sponge when compressed? I assume chassis sponge is installed on the rear transverse tubes behind the seat pans?
Hopefully getting close to a roller soon. Thank you in advance for the time and information. This project is taking forever. Steve V. Marcos in Arizona
