Marcos Maniacs

I've been getting a vibration at about 3000 rpm and its been narrowed down
to the prop shaft.  I brought it in to check on the balance but was told
that the problem was that the front knuckle/spline is too worn where it
slides through the oil seal onto the transmission output shaft.  Does anyone
know where I can get a new front spline?  It's a 20 tooth spline and the
outer diameter 1 3/8 inches.

If the transmission is English Ford. Try Dave Bean or JAE in California. Pennsylvania; Rd's. They are all English Ford/Lotus parts suppliers. Let me know if I can help on this. Good luck, Steve V. Still working on the Marcos project in Arizona

Danny, I have a couple drive shafts from various cars, midget/sprite
and lotus I will look and see what is on the shelf and let you know.
Most are common to several Brit cars. Your gearbox is more than likely and anglia and again very common. Mark

Thanks for the leads.  I’ll try JAE in the morning.  I found them much more helpful and reasonable when I ordered parts for the last engine rebuild.

I found time this weekend to look at a couple more transmissions and drive shafts. The early sprite/midget is different with a ten spline shaft although it is the same diameter. So I would suggest you look to one of the suppliers state side for a nose piece if the measurements I gave match what you are looking for. Dave Bean or JAE on the west coast
and maybe RD Ent on the east are all Lotus guys.
