Well, Ron was first so his beautiful Mantis graces the homepage.
All others received will be posted in the order that I receive
them. Maybe once a month I'll change the pic.

July 3rd meet

Maybe we could call it a "mini" Marcos meet (with Andy's approval of
course...)??

Hey Michael,

We in Ontario will be raising the stakes this fall when at least THREE
Marcoses (I never liked the Marcii moniker) will be getting together at the
Bronte show. With luck we may get even more. In fact we have aspirations of
having our own section one day instead of being lumped in with TVRs.

Virginia/Bronte Shows

2006-06-14 by Don Lattimer

Well, we had 5 Marcos together a few years back at the Palo Alto
British Meet. Four in the show and one outside in the parking lot.

As for mine, it's still in the paint shop being re-done after the
original repair job started cracking. I've been promised a "show
quality" job so I'm waiting...

If you figure out the window thing, let me know. Mine stop working
occasionally and then start working again as mysteriously as they
stopped. Have never been able to isolate the problem.

Don . . .

One of my windows stopped working a couple of years ago. Took it to the
mechanic. He took off the inner panel, gave the window motor a good whack
with a hammer, and it's been fine ever since. His explanation was that the
motor brushes sometimes hang up in their holders, and they just need a
little encouragement.

RE: [MarcosManiacs] Virginia/Bronte Shows

2006-06-15 by Dransfield, Paul

Hi Don,

The problem I'm guessing you and Mike are having with the electric windows
occurs more often in colder climates. The window wiring runs through the
door stop strap. Over time, with the door opening and closing, the wires are
bent back and forth and eventually break. Because of the tight fit, even
when the wires have broken, with the door closed the broken ends are usually
held together. That's why they will work and then not work intermittently.
Eventually the wires become separated permanently and have to be replaced to
get the windows to work again. The problem occurs more often in colder
climates because the plastic is more brittle when it's cold and is more
easily broken. I must have replaced mine half a dozen times over the past 31
years. It's a pain running complete new wires from under the dash cover to
the electric motors so I eventually figured it would be much easier to
replace just the section that was broken. To that end I now have a separate
piece inside the strap with terminals at either end. When the windows stop
working, I just replace the section of wiring within the door strap.

Don
Is there going to be a British Meet this year? Let me know if you well be bring your car into any events in the bay area this summer? I'm back on the road, and driving on the week ends.
I have had the same problem as Paul (I'm on my second set of wire between the car and the door), I've also had to change the ground wire that bolts to the bottom of the steel door (great spot for rusting the connection).
Good luck in getting your car back!

Palo Alto, CA British Car Meet

2006-06-20 by Don Lattimer

The Palo Alto Meet is on the 9th and 10th of Sept. 2006. Most
likely I'll be there. Would be nice to have all 5 of us show up
again! The California Melee is on the same dates.

Nope... still around... still trying to go even faster... saw Mark Petrinovich at Thunderhill last month. I broke the panhard rod pivot which ended my day of racing. The panhard rod pivot is now repaired and I have the car apart for some wiring changes.

Palo Alto, CA British Car Meet

2006-09-07 by Don Lattimer

For Stephen and any others who may attend:

Normally they have us park with the Arcane Auto bunch and the oddball
Brit cars on the east side of the field (in the sun). This year I'm
just going to ignore them and park over on the west side with the
Lotus, TVR, and Ginetta folks. See ya there!
