suspension inquiry

2005-03-12 by larry meadows

I am looking for the part identification for the attached .
The part is missing from my 1970 Marcos, and want to know if the Factory left it out or is it not needed? This is the first time the suspension has been dis-assembled sence new.
I am doing a complete frame off restoration.

Hello Larry
As far as I know all the triumph uprights are the same i.e. Spitfire, Vetesse, GT6.etc.
From memory the only difference is, the stub shaft for the GT6 is around .060" thicker.
This may also be true of course for the 2ltr Vitesse
From what I can gain from the picture you included, the part you are trying to identify is actually part of the up right.
I hope this is of some help.
Regards Jac

Jac.
The part that the arrow is supposed to point to is the first 'ring' from the upright. The picture shows differant than I indicated. Something about MS Word.

Larry,
I've looked through my spitfire and Lotus 7 manuals. The uprights shown are the 3 bolt pattern, but they do show a similar part which is entitled water sheild. Maybe that's what it is.

Thanks, Danny.

A water shield sounds reasonable. I guess the '70 did not have one,
The arrow doesn't point to the right part on some E-mails,

Hi Larry,

Don't worry about it. You have GT6 suspension so use the Victoria British
parts. Will you be at Sebring for the !2 hour. I will be there for the
Vintage race with the Marcos.
