V6 Hydraulic clutch

V6 Hydraulic clutch

2001-10-26 by Don Lattimer

My clutch master and slave cylinders are both leaking slightly and
look to be a nice winter job. Anyone know what rebuild kits are
required?? I have the Essex v6 engine/trans.

Don,

I have trailed through some back issues of the Marcos club magazine No's
45 and 51. Both of these magazines cover brake and clutch components and
I am passing on the Girling part and seal kit numbers for the 3.0l V6
that they quote.

Clutch Master Cylinder - 3112358W ( unique to marcos no equivalents )
Seal Kit - SP2078

Clutch Slave Cylinder - 64068372 ( V4 Corsair )
Seal Kit - SP2033

I cannot be 100 percent sure that this information is correct but it
does cross referance in both the magazine articles quoted above. These
magazines give brake and clutch component part numbers for all the
earlier marcos models and although I cannot guarantee their accuracy
this info would possibly be of help to any owner of an older marcos. If
I produced a spread sheet of this it could be posted on the maniacs web
site. Let me know if this would be usefull and I will attempt to find
time to create it.

Good luck

Thanks Lee,

If you could find the time, a spreadsheet would be greatly
appreciated! I find it hard to believe the master cylinder is unique
to Marcos but stranger things have happened.

I might as well do the brake master cylinder also. Do you have a kit
# for it?

Are these kits available thru MOC? If so do I need to be a member to
order them?

Thanks again,

Hi Don,
If the parts are really that unique you might think about sending
them to one of the firms that rebuilds the units by sleeveing the
bores with brass eliminating the leaks due to corrosion and resulting
pitting problem. I have heard a lot of good things about the two
firms, Apple is one and I can't think of the other off hand, with
the owners raving about the quality etc.

Re: V6 Hydraulic clutch

Hi all,

White Post restorations also does resleeving. I believe they are an
east coast firm, however. When I was going through this a couple of
years ago, I checked out resleeving but found it to be more expensive
than replacement with a like item. Don't forget about U.S. sources
like Dave Bean engineering out of California. They were able to
source replacement hydraulic cylinders based upon part numbers.

Good luck,
Tad

Re: V6 Hydraulic clutch and Axles

2001-10-27 by Mark Saxby

Just a quick response before I nip off on holiday to Munich.

I'm afraid I don't have any information on ratios/axles based upon
Ford part numbers.

On the subject of the clutch master cylinder, I too found it to be a
Marcos unique part (supposedly. The box mine came in listed only
Marcos as the application), but I've a suspicion that it MAY actually
be an early GT6 part as I've seen a diagram which implied that the
early GT6s had a vertically mounted 'bowl' (for want of the correct
term), whereas later ones are tilted forward. It may be worth
following up. Of course the clutch system is from a Ford Zephyr V6,
but there's no guarantee the master cylinder was actually used in the
same installation.

Happy hunting.

Cheers,

Mark
