Gas Tank/Gauge

Gas Tank/Gauge

2003-07-02 by Meggsief@aol.com

Does anyone have a spare Lucas temperature gauge? Also, any ideas on a place
to repair or buy a new gas tank? Mine is currently turning into swiss cheese.
When I bought my Marcos the prior owner said it had a DeDion rear end. As I
have never had it up on a lift, what would be my indicators as to which rear
end I have.

This past weekend, I proved that you can stuff your bride and her gown into
the cockpit of a 1600 GT Marcos... yes, it can be done.

hey Larry,
That would be very helpful. THe next time you are down there
bend thier ear and see what can be done. I guess that money can't be that big
of an issue seeing as the car wont go without the dog gone tank. Have you ever
had this problem?

   THANKS A LOT,

Larry here,
is your Marcos left hand drive? The gas tank is
origionaly set uf for both RH and LH drive, but I
thought I'd save a few bucks and only have one feed
pipe installed. I am going to the fab shop Monday for
a quote.

In regards to my last e-mail, I think the other
fitting on the tank is for the V-6 engine, not LH or
RH drive.

I got the quote on the gas tank. Fabbed and painted
black is $175.00 plus shipping from here. If you want
me to have it built, let me know.

I gave the fabricators the drawings for the tank. He
said it would be about three weeks.
May I suggest using a gas tank coating inside the tank
to prevent rust. You can buy it at J.C. Whitney's.
You just pour the material in the tank and slosh it
around until well coated. This is what we use is the
aircraft to prevent corrosion in the tanks.

Hal
Haven't heard from you. I drilled and taped the fuel gage sending unit same as mine. This tank weighs 15 pounds more than the factory tank, but will last a life time. The weight isn't a problem for you is it? You aren't racing your car, are you?

I have been so inundated at work I haven't even turned on my computer. On mon
I am dropping off my car to my mechanic. I still will have him measure the
tank. I hopefully will be racing the car if they relax the 1968 rule on vintage
racing
