Unofficial Marcos Homepage

2003-01-16 by Mark Saxby <mark.saxby@ntlworld.com>

Some of you might have noticed that my website's become a little
static.

This is partly due to laziness on my part, but also partly due to the
fac that, since I got broadband, I can't get my modem to work to
update the Freeserve (dial in access only) version of the site to
work.

If you go to www.marcoscars.net and click on the Americas or Asia,
you will be referred to the US mirror on Yahoo. This is more up to
date and will get a quick update in the next day or so.

All the best,

Mark

Mark,

Been almost two months! These winter months are lean for info and
news but we look forward to your updates, car of the month, etc.
Hope all is well with you!

Unofficial Marcos Homepage

2003-09-29 by Mark Saxby

A quick question and a quick bit of information.

First the info :

I've moved the site from Freeserve to ntl, who provide my broadband
connection. It's still on Freeserve, but I was out of space there.

new URL is http://homepage.ntlworld.com/mark.saxby/marcos/

The question is, how many of you use the Geocities mirror? It's also
maxed out on space and I'm wondering if it's worth spending $5 a
month to get extra space or whether I can just drop a lot of older
material off it(like earlier racing season news) and stick with the
freebie service?

Cheers.

Re: Unofficial Marcos Homepage

2003-09-30 by Mark Saxby

Thanks fellas,

I initially put the mirror on Geocities when I spotted how slow my
site was in the US on Freeserve, but if you're getting reasonable
performance I'll gradually phase out the older information on
Geocities.

BTW, I've just had a conversation (via e-mail) with a chap from a
website called www.automotive.com.

I didn't think it appropriate to have a link to such a general site
from the Marcos website, but some of you might find it useful, as he
suggests "Your users would be able to sell their cars, get car buying
and selling information, and car insurance, at our website."

I can't comment on the site, but he was a pleasant bloke, so I
thought I'd pass on the info.

Cheers.

Mark

Unofficial Marcos Homepage

2006-01-04 by Mark Saxby

In case you've given up keeping tracks on the Unofficial Marcos
Homepage (Http://www.marcoscars.net), and no-one could blame you, I
thought I'd just let you know that the CotM page has been updated with
cars to complete 2005 (Some great shots from owners, too) and there's
a bit of news on the latest news page.

I'm in the process of catching up on racing results from Spain,
Britain, Holland and Belgium and will have an updated racing page
online in the next couple of weeks.

Happy Marcos'ing in 2006!

Hi Mark,
I wanted to let you know how much I like your website and your obvious
enthusiasm for the Marque. I have started to race the 3 litre here in the
States and, although I think I am the only one, there are a number of others
who want to give it a go.
I am also the Marcos parts guy in the US and Canada There is a limited
market for parts so it is more of a hobby than a business. I shall be in the
UK for about a month starting next week and wondered if you would like to
meet for a drink to chat about our cars. Let me know.

On the technical page I noticed there was no mention of the V4 2 litre steel chassis car. A friend of mine owned one before he later purchased a V6. This was in the 1969 time frame.

Hi Garry!

You've reminded me to ask you about purchasing a set of lightweight 1962
Marcos Gullwing doors + bonnet for HOO144. Would you know where I might
find these? I've written Rory in UK as well.

Any advice or leads to locate these items would be greatly appreciated. Is
David Methley still about? If Rory doesn't have the moulds for these, he
might(?).

Many Thanks,
Andy

Hi Andy,
I will see Rory next week. Now that I have the serial number it should be
easy to determine if they are available. Dave Methley is still in business.
I saw him on my last trip and will see him again this time. He has moved and
is now very close to my home base. I will e mail when I have some info.

1962 Marcos Photos Sought

2006-01-07 by Andy&Alison Seward

Fellow Marcos Maniacs,

I am searching for period photos of my Marcos Gullwing, UK registered
HOO144. I would also be interested if anyone also has any 1960s photos of
Gullwings in general. These will be very helpful as I prepare HOO144 for a
return to racing once again.

Wouldany of you happen to know how to locate Mr. Konrad Wolosz? I
understand that Konrad may have some period photos of HOO144. Konrad was a
former owner of Mark Saxby's Marcos but Mark has lost contact with him. I
am understandably interested to contact Mr. Wolosz to learn if he might make
copies of his 1960's Gullwing photos (I will reimburse, of course).

Any contact info you might provide or leads would be greatly appreciated.
Or do any Marcos Maniacs members perhaps have any period photos of
Minoprio's car or other Gullwings?

Best Regards,
Andy

Hi Andy,
I'm sorry that I have taken so long to reply but I have been busy..... I have a magazine article that I bought for another Marcos Gullwing owner as a gift but he died before I could give it to him. I am not sure what magazine it is from but someone has written 01-87 on it in pencil in a corner so I am guessing it is from January 1987. The total article is about 5 pages long with perhaps 3 pages devoted exclusively to the Gullwing. The color pictures are of a blue car with the Reg.# G128. I would be happy to send the article to you (for free), assuming you don't already have it, if you will give me your complete address.

Fellow Marcos Maniacs,

I am searching for period photos of my Marcos Gullwing, UK registered
HOO144. I would also be interested if anyone also has any 1960s photos of
Gullwings in general. These will be very helpful as I prepare HOO144 for a
return to racing once again.

Best Regards,
Andy

Re: [MarcosManiacs] 1962 Marcos Photos Sought

2006-07-14 by Andy&Alison Seward

Mike,

Thanks so much! I've received your letter with the early Gullwing Marcos
article. I've never seen this article before. Very informative, too. The
car featured in the article is UK-registered G128, the ex-Jackie Stewart
race car. I don't know the chassis number but it would be in the
1000-series range. A VERY early Gullwing Marcos to be sure.

I wonder if Jem MArsh still owns that car? I may have to write and ask him.

Again, thank you for your very kind gift. Much appreciated. How may I
return the favor?

Best Regards,
Andy
