Thanks Don

Dear Don, Thank You for your good luck wishes! I appreciate your thoughts and comments very much. I'm working frantically on it, too! Got my first del sol "for sale" ads up and running on the internet and local Thrifty Nickel! I'd love to have your Marcos GT, by the way! But I'm committed to the one I'm going for at this time and we will have several things in common if I succeed! Those are: (1) 1970 Marcos GT (as opposed to your 1971 - yet very similar in many ways), RHD Steering, and (3) our fervor and love for the car! Therefore, Don, I'm going to look to you for future advice and assistance! And, if you aren't too resistant, I'm going to have a ton of questions, I'm sure! First thing I want to work on is having Marcos Heritage place twin rear view mirrors on it before they ship it because there aren't any on it. Any and all tips/suggestions will be more than welcomed from you! Finally, yes, by all means, you may dream but I really don't think that a Ferrari or even a Lamborgini has that "special" something about them that a Marcos does (possibly an AC, Aston Martin or XKE Coupe). I can not exactly pin-point what it is other than, possibly, it's got that stiff upper lip "British" about it! I do agree with you regarding a Ginetta, however. But, when I finally made my decision it was based upon the uniqueness of the Marcos over the Ginetta back in 1969 before I had my financial rug pulled out from under me and I was unable to get my dream car. What strikes me most about the character of a Ferrari or a Lamborgini is that they are sort of "Ho Hum" in character. They lack the special "uniqueness" of a Marcos in that they can easily be mistaken for some other expensive car that rich people own. I've walked up to a Ferrari in an owners carport and viewed it and I said to myself "Nice, but is it a Buick?" They lack the character of a Marcos, Ginetta or similar unique sports cars (not necessarily always "British," but most often are; that's what makes British Sports cars so darn special, I think!). There is just something about British Sports Cars that make them stand out above the rest. A Marcos, on the other hand, is just so "different" in so many ways and there are so few of them. That is why I say that if you own a Marcos you really don't need a Ferrari (or is it a Buick?)! With best regards, Svelte
