Thanks, I double-checked with Rory after I received the history, but they checked again and couldn't find anything. I verified that my chassis plate had just the chassis number stamped on it. Since my car was built for the USA, some states (I believe) tracked the engine number, and I might be able to find it that way. However, since my car has spent its entire life here in North America, I can say with almost 100 percent certainty that if it has an Essex drivetrain - which it does, than it's original. I'm fairly certain that other than in specialty low-volume cars, the basic Essex V6 - in its original form, didn't make it over here, so it's highly unlikely that anybody would have found another to swap, or get one from the UK as a replacement. On the Essex V6 the serial # is stamped in the block on a flat at the top/rear of the block just behind the right valve cover. Mine has had one serial # crossed out and another added (the one Rory lists). Don't know why!
