Re: [MarcosManiacs] Windscreen fits

2017-07-06 by Denman Mike

The windshields are also used on a Lancia Stratus so I would think the difference is in the Marcos bodies, not the windshield. Last year I installed a new windshield on my Marcos 1800 and it fits pretty well. The cowl area below the bottom edge certainly wasn’t perfect to the body. However, these bodies are not vey symmetrical and there is a lot of variation, side to side. My car came originally with a plexiglass rear window and a number of years ago I decided I would replace the plastic window (which was full of distortion and wasn’t the original rear window) with a later model glass window. The glass window didn’t fit the contours of the body at all with the top corners being especially bad in terms of fitting the contour of the body.

I have been using the windshield that came with the car for fitting, as new windshields are hopefully on order. As of now, my windshield fit is on. I have been filling and will soon primer the windshield area. The problem is; When new windshields arrive, they have to be fit to the body again? Is the fit an issue of where the windshields come from or? If this is the case, we should all stock windshields as every car will be unique as well as the glass. Is the back window also a problem?
