Re: [MarcosManiacs] Racing a Marcos.

Hi John,
I have a 1966 Marcos 1800GT (wooden chassis) and it is registered in California and has been for years. As someone else pointed out, the DMV won't know that it has a wooden chassis unless you tell them... I also question if there is really such a restriction. You asked about spring rates... Dave Methley in the UK, who dominated the vintage scene with a 1800 GT, advised me to use 12" X 21/4" 225 pound in the front and 150-160 in the rear. Dave favored the 150 pound springs in the rear but it depends on the weight of the driver and how much fuel your are carrying. The 150 pound springs can bottom out if the car is heavy in the rear. I am currently running the 225 in the front and 160 in the back and the larger GT6 anti-roll bar in the front. I am in California and am currently racing with CSRG. Gary Madison races his 1800 GT with Sovren and lives near Portland .

Hello All,
I am presently building a 1968 wooden chassis for Historic racing. I'm having difficulty getting information, could any Marcos folk out there advise me on spring rates for a race car? Are there any drivers out here in the NW?
Regards to All,

John.
