Hi Mick, I had a great deal of difficulty removing the slave cylinder, in fact I ended up ruining it and replacing it with a new one. I think the alloy reacts with the steel casting of the bell housing and fixes it self well and truly in place! you are right in that there is only a circlip holding it in place, however getting it out afterwards is still tricky! good luck!
