RE: [MarcosManiacs] Nose in the air... snobbish car???

Jeff
I've been keeping up on all the email with regards to your question. Several years ago, I replaced my shocks with adjustable Spaxs. We tested the car in hard low speed turns and at speed 100+. The general feeling was that tire grip (in the low speed turns) was actually better with the adjustment set at the mid point on the shocks and the car was much better at speed ; with a 3/4" drop (as measured from the flat glass bar between the wheels). This slight nose down in position seem to make the car much more solid at speed, so after several adjustments and some fun speed runs that is were we left it. My car is one of the eleven build with the BL TR6 engine, so the weight is different than your car and tires, wheels, front air dams, frame type and other suspension parts can make huge differences on the GT's, because after all the are very light (by road car standards). I suggest road testing, there is just too much differences in these cars for any fixed formula.
Good Luck, and keep us posted!

Subject: [MarcosManiacs] Nose in the air... snobbish car???

Hi All,

I have what seems a silly question, but after having other people see my car finally, one comment keeps popping up.

“Is the nose supposed to be that high”?

Now, I think I read somewhere that a Marcos GT is supposed to have a somewhat high nose, but it does seem rather high up to me. And this from an outside perspective, not sunk in behind the wheel. Look at the pictures in the group photo section to see what I am talking about.

Does anyone else’s car have the same characteristics? I think I saw a yellow car in the pictures of the California Marcos gathering that looked as if it did the same thing.

Could it be a spring thing since mine came over as a kit? Maybe mine was actually sprung for a heavier engine or something….

Anyone???.....

Thanks,

Jeff Caraway
