Subject: RE: [MarcosManiacs] More Wiper motor/ gearing questions..... Please help!!!!Hi Paul,
Thanks for the suggestion, but I have oiled and lubed everything I can think of.
Not only did I grease the motor gears before I put it in, but I greased and WD40-ed the heck out of the wiper linkage to no avail.

Jeff,
I had a similar problem with the wipers on another vehicle which was cause by a lack of lubricant on the shafts to which the wipers attach. If the wipers haven't been used for quite some time, they may simply need oiling.

Subject: [MarcosManiacs] More Wiper motor/ gearing questions..... Please help!!!!Hi All,
I finally got my replacement wiper motor in this weekend, but am not sure that it is quite right.
It moves fairly slow and almost grinds to a halt on a dry windshield, and the “high” speed is even worse and can barely move.
It acts OK with the wiper arms off or on a wet windshield, but I still wonder if it is right.
I used a replacement motor that was sent to me. It looked the same, but the origin of the motor is unknown. The only real difference I did notice is that the main gear in the original has 120 degrees stamped on it and the replacement had 105 degrees. At first I though this was a position marker for the gears, however the more I think about it, I am lead to believe that the number indicates the arc that the wipers will follow.
Now, if this is the case, would the 120degree gears have more torque and cover more of the windshield than the 105?
Or, could it actually be a weaker motor even though that part looked exactly the same?
I am leaning towards changing the gears because I wouldn’t think that they (Lucas) would radically change a 14W motor for each application.
Can anyone add their opinion/ knowledge/ experience?
I’d really like some second opinions before I go ripping the whole lot back out to change the gears.
Thanks,
Jeff Caraway
