Re: [MarcosManiacs] 100 Members !!

2003-05-04 by Mike Denman

I had my car at the Volvo show in Davis on Sunday and the weather couldn't have been better. As I left the show and headed to Willows, the closest town to the Thunderhill race track, I could see the weather start to change. By the time it got dark it was really raining. The next morning, Monday, I met Mark Petrinovich at the race track. It was wet, windy, and fairly cold (for California). By the time I got through registration and technical inspection I was really soaked. Mark went back to Willows and bought some rain-ex anti fogging stuff which we both smeared liberally all over the interior glass of the Marcos cars. Even with the rain-ex and the windows open we were still having problems with fogging since our clothes were wet. Add the rain on the rear window and the mirrors and we couldn't see much out of the cars. Mark quickly picked up the racing line and seem to be going good for his first encounter with Thunderhill. It probably helps that Mark used to race motorcycles. I was having problems with my DOT approved racing tires. They are wonderful in the dry but in the rain they are sort of marginal. After lunch the rain stopped and the track dried out so I had a good "go" during that session. My drive home was (200 miles) was fairy dry as the weather front moved out of the area. There is a shot of Marks car racing at Thunderhill on the Volvo Web site http://www.scvcoa.org.

Amazing! We've hit the 100 mark. Hopefully we can hold that number
and increase it over the summer as we find new members.

A warm welcome to our 100th member Pat from Montreal, Canada ! I
believe Pat owns a Marcos 3 Litre but I'll let him explain it all.

As for me, I took the Marcos to the Pacific Coast Dream Machines meet
in Half Moon Bay, CA last weekend for a beautiful day filled with
cars, planes, steam engines, truck pulls, bikes, and every other
powered contraption that exists. ; Only problem was the 4.5 hour ride
home in the rain. Heavy rain! Yes, it leaks......

Mike and Mark had their Marcos at the Volvo meet in Davis, CA on Sat.
and then on to Thunderhill Raceway in northern California for a track
day (also in the rain). Both enjoyed the excursion.

Any adventures from the rest of you folks??

Have a good week!
