Don,
Yes you need to trim down the inside of the tunnel basically parallel 
to a frame  member running there. Maybe 1.5" inckes by 10" by 8-10"  
is what I recall removing. The header mates to the engine fine and 
seems to line up to the current exhaust after shortening it some to 
make up for the extra header length.
