Hi all,

My prayers have been answered.  Phil Ward just called me from the UK 
to advise that the gearbox CAN be removed without removing the 
engine.  The gearbox is separated from the bellhousing and the 
bellhousing is left attached to the engine.  Voila!  As long as you 
don't engage the clutch while the gearbox is out, things should be 
OK.  Phil was very knowledgeable about the engine/gearbox.  His car 
is #3m5745 (15 before mine).

The clutch and pressure plate are only 15K miles old so I'll take my 
chances.  

Phil also gave me some tips on what layshaft, gear ratios, etc. that 
can be installed.  The Capri gearbox innards work in this box.  The 
Capri gearbox has steel selectors where as the current selectors are 
bronze.  Lots of good info!
