Hi guys, For coupe owners, the U-joints are both TR6, or I should say they were on my car!!! I replaced the rear one due to similar problems a few years ago, and the front one some time before that. It would probably have made more sense to change them both at the same time. Regards, Paul Dransfield 3 litre Volvo -----Original Message----- From: ronald.mcleod@... This may be of no interest to anyone other than Mantis owners, but who knows. My Mantis developed a noticeable vibration on acceleration and at steady highway speeds. Turned out to be the driveshaft U-joints. There are 2 - one just behind the overdrive, and the other immediately in front of the rear axle differential. But wait - they're not the same! The front U-joint is TR6. The rear U-joint is unknown. We managed to find a replacement U-joint that had the proper dimensions, and had to increase the bores on the yokes by a few thou to get it to fit. The provenance of this new U-joint is completely unknown, but not to worry, as I have an identical spare. This means that when the U-joint fails again in another 30 years, I will have the needed part. Trouble is, I'll be 87 then, and won't remember where I stored it. Regards . . .
