Logic and big monitors

2007-05-18 by GAmoore@aol.com

I was keen on buying the Dell 30" monitor for $1269 (free shipping, no tax)
because its supposedly the same screen that apple uses. However, it seems there
is not a single graphics board I can put in my G5 with PCI slots. So I have
to give up on that.

Instead I hooked up a 22" and a 19" side by side, and discovered something.
Both of them are 1024 vertically, and I was able to make really wide windows in
Logic (arrange, matrix, score, mixers) that span both monitors. The key thing
was that when I assign them to a screenset they come back the same again. In
the past, I found that they often came back on a single monitor. Maybe
something about both monitors having the same vertical resolution allows Logic to
make these ultra wide screensets easier. I think its so good that I don't need
the 30" that much anyway.
