Thanks, GR, but I want it to give the symbol for repeat the previous 4 bars 
or 8 bars--- yeah, maybe I am asking for too much!  But I'll try what you 
say.

Maybe the copying region function can solve your problem;
in Mac with the select Arrow tool select what you want to repeat then
copy and paste or simply Option-drag and voil\ufffd!
