If you are currently using Logic Express, but can't afford to upgrade to Pro, you could try this: http://www.cycling74.com/products/pluggo Last time I looked it contained a feature enabling you to "side chain" an audio track into a synth instrument (EXSP etc.) - a feature disabled in Express - so you can control the sound with a second signal (your voice). It costs $199, but that's a lot cheaper than going Pro. Don't take my word for it though, download the demo - I'm not sure how many features made it into the latest version (they dropped VST conversion to AU in the last update) or whether it's Universal Binary yet.
