Re: [Logic_Cafe] pcs and macs

That HP deals was not as sweet as I thought. $100 to go from 512 to 1 gig ram, then $136 of shipping and tax bring it up to about $600 - a price at which Dell starts looking good.

by the way, I picked up an Imac G5 for $1300 refurb from Apple. This same machine was going for $1900 three or four months ago. Its got a 2 gig G5 and a 20 inch monitor. I consider it a giant laptop in a sense. A G4 with a 12 inch monitor goes for about $1000, so for $300 more I get a G5, and a 20 inch monitor. Its not something you can put in a back pack, but I found a plastic box and some foam rubber which make a quick carrying case. I can use it in coffeeshops (it has builtin wireless) and demonstrate my software to customers.

Thanks for your comments about Cubase, Kamm. Thankfully I have Logic set up so I don't have to go through that hassle any more - usually at least. What are the best music programs on the PC not available on the mac? I know that Leon/Miriam thing that doesn't seem to work well is PC only. And there seems to be a lot more free VST stuff.
