Apple Logic Pro /LogicExpress Discussion

I am using Logic 5x for Windows

I always have trouble using the scissors tool.
Whenever I try and cut off a measure, I accidently
grab the last note of the previous measure.

Is there a trick or a way to know that when I cut, I
am cutting at 12  1  1  1 and not getting 11  4  4  1?
