spray etching ideas

2002-04-28 by Adam Seychell

I've recently bought a few old PVC mixing tanks that were
each fitted with nice little magnetic drive pumps
(10L/minute). I'm wondering about converting one of them to
a spray etcher. I know these pumps can be expensive new and
is one reason why simple bubble assisted immersion etching
is common for hobbyists. Has anyone here built a spray
etcher or know of any links ?

The plumping can be done with common PVC pipe and fittings
and I've checked the cone shaped spray nozzles are available
from industrial suppliers. However I've have no experience
with spray equipment. I'm guessing it will be a trial and
error design.

Just use the outlet thing from a plastic watering can (the
type that's about 10-15cm diameter with hundreds of holes).
*Any* kind of spray application of the etchant will make
the process faster.

Should be able to find some nice and cheap ones at a farm supply store, look
in the area where pumps, valves etc are kept.

Ones I have seen are all plastic. Local store has more than a 100 types.
