Just my luck... my laser printers died, so now I find a Royal PL2000 laminator (rated Good in our TT database) at a thrift store. Hm. Maybe this means I'm about to find a good laser printer? I'd better go print out the database of laser printers so I can carry it with me! Steve

Make sure you Mod it before putting a pcb in it You have to remove the "plate" that restricts the output -- I have no idea why it's there - may to be a heatsink or something. It comes off easy, Just pull on it from the middle so that it flexes enough for it's ends to come out of the little slots. Two of the screws are hiding under the feet, If you desire to take the lid off, and perform said mod. JT ----- Original Message -----

Thanks. Yes, I suspect it is there to cool the laminate and keep it flat while it's cooling. Obviously not necessary for PCBs. I did have it open already, had to repair it. The gear on the motor seems to just snap in place and it had slid nearly off the end. I pushed it back on and put a lump of glue on the end of the shaft to help it stay in place. I'd closed it up and was prepared to sell it on another list just as a laminator, and thought to look it up in the database here first. Boy am I glad I did! Hey, this was a $100 US buy! I paid only (get ready for this) $3 for it and a handful of other stuff at a thrift store. They thought it was a paper shredder. A request: Could those who listed laminators also add info on how many times they ran a PCB through for satisfactory results? I love this list!
