What type of printer for toner transfer?

What type of printer for toner transfer?

2004-01-10 by Tony Harris

Hi all,

I'm considering trying a toner transfer again (I have never been successful
with it thus far), but I'm not sure of what printer to do this with. Does
anyone have any recommendations?

-Tony

An old HP LaserJet IIIp that I've got works quite well.

same for me also, the toner just refuse to stick to the copper,(I
use cloth iron) Seem like I need the correct timing and temperature
and transfer paper. So far never been successful with this toner
transfer method :(

My HP IIID too.

Look on the group homepage, database section.
you will find a table with working printers/toners.

DOes the iron melt the toner (try transfering it to a second sheet of
paper).

If the sheets don't stick together somethig is wrong.

maybe too cold iron.

maybe "fuser oil" used.

if the paper sticks, then maybe the board cleaning is not ok...

No, even the paper does not stick to the board, I've set the
temperature and finally the copper change color and a little bit of
toner stick to the copper but not all. I use HP laser jet 2200D and
I think the toner from this printer is not suitable for toner
transfer. May be I need to try another printer, but very hard for me
to look for another one...

Maybe the toner, maybe the fuser uses fuser oil.

Look at ebay for a new printer. they are very cheap there.

I don't know the 2200D, don't know which toner it uses.

One possibility is to take a empty toner cartridge and refill it with other
toner.
