Delrin, a tradmarked version of acetal is a really decent plastic.

It can take much higher temperatures than ABS
is easy to machime
is fairly chemical resistant
is easy to get a hold of in rod tube bar and sheet

the biggest problem is that it is a little difficult to bond with adhesives

AND it turns to blackboard-chalk when exposed to UV (sunlight) for months!

Raw acetal will do that, but the black delrn stuff I use has a uv stabilizer. Even with accelerated UV exposure testing it holds up well. I have some grey non UV stabilized stuff that I never used as I was too paranoid.... Thanks for the heads up
Ron

Right, I WAS thinking only about the white. The black Delrin in the same
outdoor pushbutton-assy. seems OK. Just the white that has turned to chalk.
