Hi All,
I don't know if this has been covered before but in using the chemicals
Muriatic Acid (hydrochloric acid) and Hydrogen Peroxide to etch
circuit boards with - if someone accidentally spilled some acetone
into the etchant mix they could inadvertently produce a high explosive
called Acetone Peroxide. Some people use Acetone to clean the copper
boards with prior to etching so it is possible the chemicals could be
accidentally mixed together. I believe the reaction produces white
crystals that are the highly unstable explosive Acetone Peroxide.

There is no such danger when using ferric chloride. Just a reminder to
be careful when using these chemicals.

What is also likely is that you might attract the wrong kind of
attention by buying those three chemicals together.

That's rubbish. Make a search on how acetone peroxide actually is produced and the needed care and equipment. Besides, it would stay in solution and decompose at the temperatures used for etching.

That people actually believe these old wives tales is the cause of the hassle at airports and restrictions on access to useful but largely innocuous materials.

Would be nice if you could correct wikipedia.

OK, the instruction I've read are on the trimer, which requires cooling. Looks like it _can_ occur accidentally too. So now we're all suspected terrorists.
