Seeking Silicon Chip magazine Nov 2007

2010-01-31 by David Griffith

I found what appears to be well-documented plans for a UV lightbox in the
November 2007 issue of Silicon Chip magazine in Australia. Is there
anyone on this list in Australia with that article?

Q: What is the most annoying thing in e-mail?

I was hoping to find someone with the hard copy to scan it. That webpage
doesn't have the whole article.

Hello David.

Do you need the complete article?

Reg.

Look at the pictures (click the schematic on the opening page) - almost all information is there. Words not really necessary, IMO.

Donald.

Don't bother building a timer, just pinch the controls off an old microwave
oven. 'Dead' microwaves usually have a blown fuse, or no longer match the
kitchen decor.

They have a relay to turn the magnetron on & off, hook the UV tubes to that. As
a bonus you can hook up the door switches as a safety interlock and even put the
little 25w globe in the box too.

Steer clear of the capacitor, that will kill you if you touch it while it's
charged.

Put the two magnets out of the magnetron as well.

The rest is just carpentry. The truly lazy use an old wooden drawer for the
box.

Tony

PS: Oh yeah, if you have trouble pulling the wires off, they have little latches
on them.
