brother 5250 laser and PnP blue

2010-01-11 by David Griffith

After getting poor results with Pulsar paper a while ago, I'm thinking of
trying again with Press n Peel. I've heard that some people have problems
with PnP blue and Brother printers. Mine is a Brother 5250DN. Does
anyone here have anything to say about that combination?

I have not used Brother but used a samsung and xerox printers and found the ink sticks better to the blue than the pulsar. What I have noticed with the pulsar is the ink sticks weak.
If I have a small image on top of the paper and stick a peice of Pulsar paper on top there is a slight second image that appears below the paper whichI assume is because all the ink from the drum did not stick to the paper and during the second rotation of the drum the remaining ink sticks below the paper.

The only printer brand Pulsar says to stay away from is Brother:
"To date we have discovered only the Brother brand of printers to be
incompatible with our system. They use a completely different type of
toner formulation requiring very high fusing temperatures."

If PnPs transfer method works at substantially higher temperatures
than Pulsars, you may have a shot

The brother I had problems with used fuser oil which messed up the adhesion
of the toner to what I was ironing it onto.

My new one doesn't, and it has been problem free. The old one was a brother
HL-2400Cn, the new one a MFC-9420Cn

Brian, I found that using a rebuilt toner cartridge from Office Depot
in my Brother printer would work OK.

What model printer do you have?

I have tried the PnP Blue with a Brother printer and can tell you that
this combination
did not work for me either. I used an HP printer for a while (until the
cartridges ran out).
It costs more for replacements than a new Samsung printer, which works
very well also.
By the way, both the HP and the Samsung printers are color printers
since I use them
for labels also. The Pulsar decal system works great for that.

David:
It was a 1440 I do not rember the prefix letters as I do not have it now.
This was one of the first printers that used the high temp toner. I had the model
just before the 1440 and it worked OK. When I bought the 1440 it drove me crazy
trying to get it to make toner boards. I found out at that time that Brother had
gone to a High temp toner and I did get some trannsfer by ironing for about 10 min.

I believe that rhe HP toner is as good as any if not better.
