GBC H535 Laminator report!

2009-05-19 by michael tenore

Well I finally tried my used GBC H535 Laminator on a board a about 20 minutes ago!

Settings!

Cold/Hot=HOT
Type Material= BOARD
Temp 328 F
Speed=6
Warmup time 14 minutes

Laminator rated max material thickness 100mils

Paper used= HP Presenatation Paper Q2546A

#Passes= Ist board =6 Second =Ten passes!

Board size-4.5 x 6.5 inches
Thickness= .062 single side fiberglass Vectorboard (I had these boards in storage 10 years).

Traces mostly 25mil with some 30 an4 mil . Board has a 100 mil border ground bus!

1st attempt=6 passes 80 percent very good,20 percent no good!

2nd try =10 passes= Board 100 percent exellent ! All lettering and traces 100 pct!No pin holes in traces detected!

I think 8 or nine passes would have been just as good!

No Pad/Trace spreading detected!

all traces and pads = nice and crisp outlines

I will update the Database!

Regards

Mike

I just used the max temp that the LCD screen displayed! It is possable that this temp is higher than that.but right now I have no way to tell.
When I go back to work next week I will ask our HVAC dept. If they have a non contact thermometer I can borrow over night..
Believe me the board is plenty hot when it emerges from the rear of this thing!

All I know is that the results are very nice!

I just made a mod to the board and I will re do the toner maybe tomorrow. If I have time I may scan it and post it.

Can you set the temp higher? I found I have to use around 350F with
HP toner.

I don't think the actual temp matters, just that I think you need
"hotter". If it's all the way up already, the answer is no ;-)

This is why I hacked mine - I needed hotter for TT, and cooler for
photofilm. The default temp wasn't useful for either.
