Brute and Hawk Mills

Brute and Hawk Mills

2005-11-15 by crankorgan

Hi All,
I sell plans for two kinds of CNC mills that have been used
for milling and drilling PCB. They both use Derin Gibs and Gibs.
Neither uses homemade DRILLED DELRIN bushings. Gibs and Jibs can be
adjusted at any time so there is no play unlike homemade bushings that
may be too loose or bind . Both machines can be built using simple
hand tools. Both machines can be built for around $100 minus
motors-drivers and software.

                                          John

I can speak highly of Crankorgan's plans and support. The plans are
well documented. His support website is among the best.

Hi John,

Ballendo was in here a couple of weeks ago announcing his Roadrunner
[?] router/pcb mills that he is making. His machine, if I recall
correctly, comes complete with motors, drivers, mechanicals, etc.
for $500.00

Like everyone else, I have no idea what the machine actually looks
like, but the data he is presenting is impressive for the price. I
don't know for sure either if it comes assembled or not. Just
thought I would share that with you in case you were not aware of
his offerings.

Chris

Chris,
The Brute is 5 years old and the Hawk is two years old. Many
people have build them. I just figured I would mention it since some
people have been talking about building a CNC driller. People have
scratch built a Brute for under $200. If you buy a motor system then
it will be $300.

Hi John,

Also worth noting is that people can actually see your machines!

Chris,
I also have pictures of machines built by customers.

Re: Brute and Hawk Mills

2005-11-15 by mikezcnc

Two things need to be mentioned:

1. Ballendo's machine is an idea, only an idea. That idea started 1.5
year ago and last release date was August 2004. After nothing
happened since 2004 I thought that that idea gracefully died and I
have not mentioned it out of respect for Ballendo's technical
knowledge of CNC and how helpful he is. However, since Ballendo
mentioned that machine again as the next coming, I felt compelleld to
inform the unwary public that based on the track record (of that
machine of course ;) I suggest that you people who want their PCBs
drilled under CNC control, do not wait for it because you will get
disappointeed like I did. I have waited for a year and nothing
happened but that motivated me to seek alternate solutions: now I
drill my PCBs automatically, so to speak. And for that I am thankful
to Ballendo.

2. Brute from www.kleinbauer.com is the real machine built by 100s if
not more. Lots of pictures are on that website. It is a real machine
that is well documented and with superior, I repeat, SUPERIOR
support. Frankly, John, I think you are doing an amazing job of
helping customers around the world to build their machines.

Anybody who has money, I suggest go to T-tech or LPKF and buy one
($15,000?). And you still will have to learn how to run it, possibly
freom John... The rest of the mortals, please go to
www.kleinbauer.com and do not delay your dream of heaving your PCBs
drilled by a computer. No need for getting blind either while
squinting thru funnyu magnifying glasses over 200 hundred holes.. Mike

Every mention of CNC does not need to be an opportunity to poke at
Ballendo. Please give it a rest.

Product design realities was Re: Brute and Hawk Mills

What possibly gives you the omnipotence to say this? You have
absolutely no idea of the status of the Roadrunners. If you--and
Chris-- choose to doubt me, that is your right. If you're upset that
the product didn't get released in time for your need, so be it. But
grandly claiming that you have some insider information about the
status of an unRELEASED product is a bit much, IMO.

Do you remember when Art added a roadrunner test file to the Mach2
(that's mach TWO) release? There have been REAL roadrunners since
shortly before then. He added that to the release for me...

BTW, If you haven't yet seen the new car models, do they therefore
not exist? (Why don't the carmakers want the pics out before they
release the product?)

Apparently there are some things about product design and protection
of designs that you appear not to understand.

Ballendo

P.S. I have no problem with you telling folks that based on your
experience; they should not wait. It's your assertion reposted above
that is simply not true.
