Homebrew PCBs

How much work is required to take the fuser out of an old laser printer
and make it a stand alone unit?  Is the power supply from the laser
printer usable, or do you need to use something different?  I have an old
Epson Action Laser 1000 that I could cannibalize if it isn't too
difficult.
