It's not just for yuppies :-)

For many consumer-level printers, replacing the printer rather than the
toner can be very cost-effective.

A new toner cartridge for my old 300dpi Epson ActionLaser 1500 printer is
$173. I can get a brand-new printer for less or slightly more, depending on
what I want. I've had this printer for around 11 years, and have replaced
the toner only twice.
