Yep, but they only have to work once. ;') Plus I'll bet quality control is a lot better than for consumer stuff. A good mechanical connection is the first part of a good rocket-worthy solder connection, that's probably why they used eyelets. However, I think in consumer stuff it's just a convenience and they rely on the solder to make the connection, because I've noticed many an eyelet that was loose when desoldering it.
