I thought (and still do) the car shock absorbers were intended to be used as linear slides for a non-pivoting type of press. I don't think it is very difficult to find a spring, and a counterweight on the back of the arm works well here, but a rubber ball of some sort would surely work as well. I reckon even rubber bands can be used if some standoff mechanism is used. ST
