Yes, I have to agree that Waveterm B sounded much better than the IIx for sample quality. However I could never "red line" the input on my Waveterm without it getting totally distorted and unusable. Finally in the end both systems went away for an Emulator III sampler which was my favorite sampler because of quality, ease of use and the amount of memory it had... A whopping 8MB's!!!

I´m pretty much convinced that it is working properly. I´ve done numerous
testing with lots of sources and everything except an 808-style or 909 kick
sounds fine.

I guess I´m spoiled with the superior sampling on the Waveterm B ;-)

The CMI is 8 bit. You have to be very careful sampling into it.
Of course, it may be that yours has issues, but 8 bit sampling is pretty lo
fi !

Yes. The EIII was a huge step forwards. Not just the 16 bit part but just easy to use, decent memory and great sound.
Still one of the best samplers around.
