CMI: Handshake TIMEOUT on task "mptask", error 228.

I am trying to boot an older CMI. Suggestions to solve the issue at hand
welcome. I removed the battery recently.

Very briefly, I beleive the CMI software does some rudimentary 
hardware checking on boot-up. mptask is, I beleive, midi processor 
related, although I've seen this many, many times with a bad channel 
card. Try unseating all the channels except for channels 1 and 2 (card 
furthest right), and try other channel cards in this slot. If it still 
doesn't boot, try a known good CMI-28 MIDI/SMPTE card. Could also be 
corrupted software, hard disc problem too...
