Re: [Fairlight-CMI] Prying caps off switches on keyboard

2004-01-02 by Frank31171@aol.com

Hi Jerry -

DON'T USE PLIERS!!! You will surely damage the caps...

The white caps are like decorative tops to the switch unit. It is the actual unit that you need access to, and to do this without damaging the switches, you need to go in to the keyboard and dismantle some housings which cover the switch area. There is quite a bit a work to do in order to get there. Sounds scary, but if you set aside a good amount of time and just relax - and go slow - you will do fine. Have you ever taken the bottom/back of the keyboard off before? Once you have this figured out, the rest should go well.

Do you already have the replacement lights? There were some posting on the Holmes Page with contacts for them, if needed.

Good luck - and resist the urge to use pliers!

Best -
