Gordon, thanx for the info below. That is very much how it sounds. Like a sync-sweep. I guess it is ok then. Doing the testing/calibration of the ADC is not something I´m capable of doing. I know that the 8-bit samples in my early versions of my replacement Alesis HR-16 ROM had a pretty distinctive noise on long boomy decays - particularly on 808 bass drum samples, there was a high-pitched sweep a bit like a sync sweep on it. This is an artifact caused by the lack of dynamic range and relatively large steps in a linear 8-bit sample. I left it in, it sounded cool. Gordon MM0YEQ
