A-111-3 uPVCO with A-160 divider

A-111-3 uPVCO with A-160 divider

2016-10-12 by Martin Alaçam

Hello,

The pulse wave of PVCO at lfo speed doesn't work well with the A-160 clock divider on my system. It skips beats and stutters. I tried to send the pulse through the trigger modifier module but that did not help. A-160 works with everything else. I have the pVCO connected to the CV bus (receiving from the precision adder). Could that have any effect? Thanks,

Cheers,

Martin

From the theory it should work - at least with a pulsewidth not close to 0%
or 100% (e.g. 10% - 90% should work). I'll have to try out the
A-111-3/A-160-1 combo. Unfortunately I have no A-111-3 left because the
first production series is completely sold out. But I'll try an A-111-2
which uses nearly the same circuitry.

Best wishes

Hello,

That's good news, congrats! Looks like everybody was waiting for the 4 hp osci... And it is a nice one for sure, just this one quirk. It just skips a beat irregularly, would be a nice random if i didn't have 149-2 already. The pulse-width is in the middle, if I bring it to the edges it stops driving the divider - as it should.

Best regards,

Martin

I think the problem is with the divider, not the osc. It did some other strange things today, although most of the time it works, I can't put my finger why it gets funny once in a while. Maybe it is the lots of multiples going out of the divider+sequencer, I don't know... Also the pulse from the pvco opens everything else without any problems. so it can't be that.

Best

AW: [Doepfer_a100] A-111-3 uPVCO with A-160 divider

2016-11-09 by yahoo@doepfer.de

Sorry for my late reply. But so far I had to A-111-3 available to try it
out. Indeed the A-111-3/A-160-1 combo does not work as it should under
certain conditions (problems occured around 250 Hz A-111-3 frequency). With
an LFO (A-145) or another VCO (A-110-1) with the same frequency everything
was fine. To speak the truth I don't really know the exact reason for the
faulty behaviour in combination with the A-111-3. Maybe it has to do with
the signal level that generates some kind of crosstalk inside the A-160-1
(the level of the A-111-3 is higher than the A-145/A-110-1) and/or the edge
details of the A-111-3 signal. Anyway - I found two solutions for the
problem:

- attenuating the A-111-3 signal by means of an A-183-1 (when the signal
level is lowered the artefacts disappear at a certain knob position of the
A-183-1)
- soldering a capacitor in parallel to the A-160-1 clock input (I tried
1nF - 10nF and all worked)

Hope this helps

I forgot to mention that with the other waveforms (saw, triangle) of the
A-111-3 no problems occured.
