As far as I know, you can theoretically just keep daisy chaining together different bus boards. The A-185-1 comes in handy when you have more than two oscillators, and want to get them all to play the same note. :) It's very useful, but certainly not required when your MIDI to CV converter is inside a single case along with all your other modules.
